One of the duties of the Lord-Lieutenant is to welcome, on behalf of The Queen, those who are being granted British citizenship at ceremonies arranged by Argyll & Bute Council. One of the photographs above shows the Lord-Lieutenant welcoming Mrs Hataiwan Wilson as a UK citizen in February 2016.
On 21st April 1916 HM The Queen celebrated her ninetieth birthday. The event was celebrated in Argyll & Bute by amongst other things the lighting of beacons on Bute and at Dunoon. Another of the photographs above shows the Bute beacon being that by Mrs Fiona Shaw wife of Stewart Shaw DL of Rothesay.
