The Argyll & Bute Lieutenancy is particularly keen to support both local and national charities operating in the Area. Were you aware that there are 841 charities registered in the local authority area of Argyll & Bute?
The presence of the Lord-Lieutenant or one of his Deputes, at an event, can help enormously with publicity.
The Lord-Lieutenant is very willing to consider an invitation to be a patron of local charities or the local branch of a national charity. he has recently accepted invitations to be the Patron of the Clyde Fishermen’s Trust and the Campbeltown Heritage Centre
An important function of the Lieutenancy is to promote the Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service which is an award, equivalent of an MBE, made to voluntary organisations for outstanding work in their sector. Nominations can be made by anyone but the assessment is carried out by or on behalf of the Lord-Lieutenant so his involvement at an early stage could be useful.
